Rainbow Trout Culture Tips

Rainbow trout is a cold-water fish that normally inhabits river streams with clear, unpolluted, sandy bottoms. Rainbow trout loves living in water with water temperature of 8-20 °C. Under the conditions of artificial density, the optimum growth temperature is 12-18°C. When the water temperature is lower than 7°C or higher than 20°C, appetite is significantly reduced, growth is slowed, disease-resistant countries are weakened, and feeding is stopped when the water temperature reaches 24°C. It can die in a short time at 26 °C. Therefore, the upper limit of the water temperature of rainbow trout in captivity is 24°C. Rainbow trout does not have a significant minimum temperature for growth. As long as the water does not freeze, it can feed and grow, but the intensity of feeding is reduced and growth is slow. The dissolved oxygen in the eel water is required to be above 5mg/L. When the dissolved oxygen is 5mg/L, the respiratory rate of the fish is accelerated and the patient feels uncomfortable. At 4mg/L, hypoxic symptoms occur, often causing death. When the dissolved oxygen is 3mg/L, there will be a large number of deaths. The pH of the culture water should be maintained at 5-9, alkalinity 1.5mg.n/L, hardness 8-12. Rainbow trout has a wide range of adaptability to salinity. After a short period of domestication, it can be used to breed adult fish.
