Horseshoe Blight

Horseshoe blight is one of the major diseases of the horseshoe. It can develop throughout the growing season, especially from mid-September to October. The symptoms are blue and dry type. 1 The blue-dry type showed the water loss from the stalk end or side was blue and dry, and it spread downward. Finally, the whole stalks died. Especially when the rain was fine, the symptoms were most obvious in the field. Diseased plants generally do not produce scars or knots and are more harmful. 2 The common type of leukoplakia is generally later than the onset of blue-green type, generally after the end of September. Symptoms: The upper part of the horseshoe culms shows grayish-white patches. The disease and health boundaries are very obvious, slightly concave, and lesions can be connected with each other to form large spots. Strain development is generally more normal and less harmful.
Horseshoe powdery mildew mainly damages leaves, stems and flowers, resulting in a layer of white powdery mildew.
Control methods: (1) Apply basal fertilizer and increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizers; (2) Spray 15% triadimefon WP or 20% triadimefon EC 2000-250 times or 30% solid lime sulfur 150 times at the beginning of disease. Liquid or 40% polysulfide suspension 600 times, every 7-10 days, control 1-2 times.
