Researchers have now discovered three DNA mutations that may be associated with back pain, which is currently suffering from back pain worldwide.
There are currently three genetic variants - SOX5, CCDC26/GSDMC and DCC - that are thought to affect spinal growth. Scientists at the Seattle Veterans Affairs Department analyzed the genes of more than 150,000 people to gain this discovery.

Chronic back pain is closely related to mood changes, and the role of the central nervous system in the transition from acute to chronic back pain is well recognized. However, the two genetic variations we found indicate that this variation affects peripheral structures such as the spine.
Despite the scale of the study, the researchers believe that the next step still requires a larger range of research to determine how genes are associated with back pain. At some stage of life, low back pain affects at least four-fifths of the population, and about one-fifth of patients experience chronic discomfort that lasts for a year or more.
British residents spend 2.1 billion pounds a year on back pain, which is estimated to cost about £10 billion on weekdays and informal care. According to the American Chiropractic Association, the annual cost of treating low-lying pain in the United States is about $50 billion.
Earlier this year, a study by the Kaiser Medical Washington Institute of Health showed that chiropractors can really relieve back pain.
Can exercise relieve back pain?
A July 2017 study showed that high-intensity exercisers can reduce the risk of chronic low back pain by 16%, and regular moderate exercise can reduce chronic low back pain by 14%.
However, the study emphasizes that exercise has little effect on short-term back pain or in hospitalization and disability. Dr. Joel Press, a physiotherapist at the New York Special Surgery Hospital, said that walking generally has a lower impact on back problems, which can be used as a starting point for exercise. Swimming is another low-impact activity that puts less burden on your back. He stressed that patients with back pain need to avoid a lot of physical movements, such as golf and tennis.
Finnish Occupational Health Research staff from Helsinki analyzed 158,475 patients in 36 studies, and participants in these studies did not experience back pain at the beginning of the survey.
